@LibertyIsNotGiven Ok. Lets first look at the basis of your reply – The magnetosphere is ALWAYS in flux – yes this is true [everything in the physical universe is for that matter]. You are making more of an assumption than I am in regards to the earthquakes and volcanic eruptions though. 1] Not all occurrences of earthquakes and eruptions in the past have been recorded so it is hard for either of us to make an accurate statement there…2] trying to link exact storms to CMEs and sun activity..
@StephenWebb1980 ..is very, very difficult and unfortunately we don’t have the proper tools or know how to pinpoint with that much accuracy the how, where, why, and when of CME/crazy weather connection. We have always been in danger, but it seems like everything that needs to come together for a big disaster is falling into place. Perhaps it just seems that way because we know more now than ever before, or maybe not…time will tell.

As for [1], yes, that is true, which is one reason why averages over the last century are probably higher than those numbers reflect. Our detection abilities have improved drastically over the last 50 years or so, ergo we detect more, on top of the fact that these events don’t exactly occur with clockwork precision.

- shifting burden of proof
- assumptions, assumptions, half facts, lies, assumptions and circular reasoning.

- we are far from crossing the galactic plain (like 30MLN years I believe)
- sun alignment is every winter
- These are things that happened all the time in history

I dont think you can say nothing will happen you dont really know, because even NASA is seeing new things happen every day on the sun.
Maybe 2012 no solar flares will cause any problems on earth, like you said NASA is saying may 2013 could have high solar activity.
They have also said that there are less sunspots than they have recorded in over a century, so the sun is waking from a very deep sleep.

2013 is the current projection for Solar Maximum 24. This is something that happens roughly every 12 years. The last minimum (December 2008) has definitely lasted longer than expected, but the projection currently states, and I quote, “…the next solar cycle will be below average in intensity, with a maximum sunspot number of 90.”
