  • What, what, what??:

The Mayan Calender is a calendar, which accurately predicts the rise of the sun every day; it doesn’t predict anything else.

The Mayans developed a bunch of different calendars. There were those that were used for crop cultivation, others that followed the cycles of the sun, cycles of the moon, cycles of Venus!, cycles of fish spawning (you name it), etc. One type of Mayan calendar was even said to help midwives with the birthing of babies. And then, there is the "Long Count," The Mayan calendar, which had been used to track defined long periods of time. The Mayans gave one Long Count calendar a date that coincidentally ends later this year…its not a prediction…its just an end; their calendars were not infinite…just as ours are not. The Mayans were just mathematically advanced and sophistically creative with their calendar systems.

As for the fall of Rome? Sure, there are people who have said it. But, you have to ask yourself…who is this person that is saying this? How seriously credible are these people? You would have to have a professional scientist/mathematician, anthropologist and historian go through to verify something like that, and I have found NOTHING that would verify the asserted connection between any Mayan calendar and the fall of Rome. You have to remember, floods, tornado, earthquakes, droughts, plagues, infestations, large mass wildfires, giant meteors smashing into the earth, etc., have historically happened and more than likely have varying probabilities of happening in the future.

Also, Rome didn’t fall within a day, month or year, just as it wasn’t built…it fell through misappropriation and misuse of power and greed, and its then-government not caring for Rome’s well-being, over a long period of time. Just as its true for the fall of many other great empires.

How many predictions that were asserted within the last century came true? None. Its a big ol’ load of cow poop and propaganda.

This isn’t true history. Its speculation.

  • Comicbook Reader:

Rule of thumb about Mayan predictions: people make all sorts of claims, virtually none of them are based on fact. There is a lot of misinformation about the Mayan calendar. It didn’t predict the fall of Rome, primarily because the Mayans didn’t know anything about the Romans.

If you are interested in facts, rather than myth and hyperbole, about the Mayans, their calendar and predictions visit http://www.2012hoax.org/mayan-calendar It debunks a lot of this.

Mayan calender didn’t predict anything. It just tells the Mayans what day it is and to keep track of major events. Mayans didn’t know anything about Romans.

It is just the New Age myths that says Mayans Calenders predict events. It doesn’t.

I don’t believe it did. It’s really hard to give the fall of the Roman Empire any specific date. The empire had been split well before the original "fall" date of the Western Empire in 467, but even then all that happened was a German chief taking over eof the Empire. Th Eastern Empire didn’t fall until 1453. So do the Mayans have two dates? I would guess probably not.
