A colourful (if far from complete) explanation as to the working of the Mayan Calendar. Told by Ian Lungold, this video essay by Chris Valentine hopes to give the viewer a rough understanding of how the Mayan Calendar functions.

    I agree with you. Totally.

  • dimetr1:

All of the theories about 2012 are all Hocus Pocus and bad science. You hear everything from spiritual enlightenment, planet x, asteroid, comet, polar shift, cataclysmic catastrophes… The list goes on. December 21, 2012 is just another day.

why do people just post comments hating on 2012 preditions? watch the video kids, and understand something.

This video isnt even about the end of the world so sit down and shut the hell up

The least amount of sunlight only in the Northern Hemisphere in South America in the Southern Hemisphere this is the Summer Solstice.

We can’t be aligned with the Milky Way we are in it, so there is nothing to align with. TBH I think the only reason they stopped making the calendar at that date (which is, after all only our interpretation of their calendar) is because they ran out of rock.

  • Sethtardz:

Let me correct myself on the Milky Way thing, I meant to say all major (large) masses will be alligned. I’m not going to go and talk about this being the end of the world or anything, just something to think about, or wait and see if any major occurence does effect earth. :)

  • guadalupejoe1:

u really think that the mayans had the mental capacity to device these calendars? what i think is that Atlanteans helped the Mayans with this tech calendar…i have been told this by some adepts…

  • DECKARD4:

INSTEAD of putting some crazy shhits video x24val, why don’t you just fucck yourself until december 21st 2012 you moron….

  • dinocajic:

I think it’s a rather interesting video (illustrating the power of the human imagination).

    My questions are:

    1. How can someone be certain in what was illustrated by diving the ‘pyramid’ in layers and then dividing those layers in 13 segments? (I want to know how this assumption came to be).

    2. Even if the symbols were deciphered, how were they deciphered (since that looks like an extremely complicated calendar to decipher)?

    3. What if a mistake was made in deciphering?

    Too many questions.

  • D081:

    lol dickard’ xD

  • vpzm:

This video realy hurts the bible nut jobs out there. They cant think for themselfs so their god does there thinking for them, and takes there money.Weak minded people. If you were born w/out sins u wouldn’t have to go to church.Think about it.

  • x24val:

I’ll freely admit I don’t subscribe “lock, stock and barrel”. And I can’t claim to know what Lungold believed was the true L,S and B of his findings. I waded into the assignment and feel I did find “welcoming” waters of promise that perhaps the Mayans had somehow tuned in to a really cool “radio station” …somewhere off the the local path. It might not be so bad to listen for awhile.
    An angle

I’m comfortably ambivalent…but, no harm in looking around for awhile.

    Please

  • BloodCr0ss:

we only have 3 years left to live pretty much.
hmm…I wont get to be successful then if the world does end…
wont be able to get married, change the world,
or even turn 18 or lose my virginity…

  • drago884:

3 years is plenty of time to get laid!
that’s why raptor jesus invented craigslist, and the whores who use it to offer you half an hour of fun for a mere $140!

  • xTHEBOZx:

Guys the world is not going to end in 2012. The Mayans just didn’t know that the world would last this long the world will not end. Unless we plummet into the sun!

  • x24val:

Thanks for the comment, but this video doesn’t “say” and (me) the producer of this video don’t believe at all that the world is ending in ‘12 …that’s one for the moon bats!!
Don’t group me with “them” …please
