@cdesp i didnt hear it from anyone i know it from extensive research on the subject. the way this supposed “prophecy” came to be was a calendar made by the achient mayan civilization. they made a calendar and they ended it on the year 2012. now everybody thinks just cause they ended a calendar on a certain year that it marks the end of the world.

I read on internet land that NASA had planned a manned mission to Mars by August, 1982, but that the Viet Nam war was so costly. That mission would have been a drop in the fiscal bucket, when compared to military spending back then. When you compare the worthiness of a manned mission to Mars to that of slugging it out in Southeast Asia, I vote Mars, completely. We lost Viet Nam; what a waste. We lost our early trip to Mars; what a waste. Now, we’ve got economical woes and budget cuts. Yet again, Mars usually takes the back seat only to fall out of the vehicle. What can we do to avoid strike three?
