Why did the Mayans create their calendar to end specifically on December 21 2012? I can’t find this information anywhere and i would really like to know.
If it doesn’t end on that day, why is it rumored that it does? Is there some sort of confusion or something? People would have made that up for a reason, right?
Thousands of years ago the Mayans predicted on March 19, 1519 white skinned bearded gods would arrive from across the seas. On that exact day Cortez and his conquestidors arrived in the new world. They also predicted the end of the world on Dec 21, 2012. How could they have predicted this and remember the Mayans took their calendar very seriously .
The end of Mayan calendar is December 21, 2012. It is told to be that when the mayan calendar ends so does the world. Do you believe that is true? I know the Mayans were very smart and intelligent but not smart enough to predict the end of the world. There have been so many other "ends of the world" also. But those never happened. What are your thoughts on it?
The sumerians have said such, the bible says such (wormwood) the return of god, the rise of anti-christ) It supposedly happened in the past. The mayans have supposedly met the inhabitants of planet-x. Why does the mayan calendar end dec.21st 2012? Why does the chinese I-ching foretell the same? Why is TV going digital? is it so save analog space for state of emergency? in the u.s.? the whole world?
The rationing of oil?

Neil deGrasse Tyson was born and raised in New York City where he was educated in the public schools clear through his graduation from the Bronx High School of Science. Tyson went on to earn his BA in Physics from Harvard and his PhD in Astrophysics from Columbia. Tyson’s professional research interests are broad, but include star formation, exploding stars, dwarf galaxies, and the structure of our Milky Way. Tyson obtains his data from the Hubble Space Telescope, as well as from telescopes in California, New Mexico, Arizona, and in the Andes Mountains of Chile. In 2001, Tyson was appointed by President Bush to serve on a 12-member commission that studied the Future of the US Aerospace Industry. The final report was published in 2002 and contained recommendations (for Congress and for the major agencies of the government) that would promote a thriving future of transportation, space exploration, and national security. Do you think the world is going to end in 2012 liek the Mayans said? why or why not? and if so, how do you think it will happe?
No one disagrees that the Mayan calendar ends – for what ever reason – in December of the year 2012. Some day its December 21st and some say its December 23rd.
Anyway, did the Mayans actually tell us what would happen when their calendar ends?
I don’t get it. But it is very interesting.
