"Planet X" was a hypothetical planet proposed by 19th century astronomers to explain certain anomalies in planetary orbits, which have since been explained by relativity and other factors. The name was pirated by some flying saucer nuts. It does not exist.
"Nibiru" is the Sumerian name for Jupiter, which was mistranslated by Zecharia Sitchin as a planet which visits the inner solar system once every 3600 years. It does not exist.
"Comet Elenin" is a small comet discovered by Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin in 2010. It is currently passing fairly close to Earth, but will not interfere wit or effect Earth in any way. It is real.
So the difference is that "Planet X" and "Nibiru" are imaginary, while Comet Elenin is real but harmless.
Planet X is a name that has been used for a variety of objects, some of them real objects. However, because of the rest of your question, I suspect that you are asking in relation to the Planet X used in the Big 2012 Hoax.
That Planet X was invented by Nancy Leider. She claims that she was abducted by aliens who told her about a rogue planet that was going to pass too close to Earth and cause all kinds of problems (global tsunamis, earthquakes, pole flips, etc.) killing 90% of the population. They even gave her the date: May 13, 2003.
"Friends" of Nancy used her story to scare people, then sell them book on how to survive.
After May 2003, they wanted to run the hoax again, so they reloaded the Planet X hoax with a new date, based on a lie invented in 1987 by José Argüelles, self-acclaimed "reincarnated Mayan god" (even though he was really born in Minnesota).

Nibiru is a different fake planet, invented in the 1960s for a different hoax. Zechariah Sitchin invented it to support his "theory" (know to be fake) that humans were created by the people of that planet. We are their slaves and we mine gold (which they need for their survival). In Zechariah’s story, Nibiru is in orbit around the Sun (not a rogue planet) and its next passage close to Earth is around the year 2085. When he wrote the story, Zechariah had a good reason (albeit a fake one) to set the next return for 2085, not 2012.
When the Planet X charlatans created the Big 2012 Hoax, they stole ideas from many older hoaxes, stories and lies, including the story of Nibiru.

Elenin is a rather average comet which will pass so far from Earth that even with binoculars (and if you know exactly where to look) you would not seen anything other than a fuzzy dot. It cannot have any effect on Earth (except in some weak minds).
Comet Halley, which returns every 86 years, passed a lot closer to Earth in 1910 — so close that Earth passed through its tail. Sure enough, some charlatans predicted the death of lots of people back then too, and made money selling gas masks (they claimed that the tail would poison us all).
Every year, there are roughly a dozen comets that pass a lot closer than Elenin.
Planet x was the planet thought to be producing a perturbance upon the orbit of Neptune. When the probe Voyager 2 flew by Neptune in 1989, accurate measurements proved that there was no gravitational disturbance in the orbit and thus no planet x has ever existed.
Nibiru was the Sumerian word for the planet Jupiter.
Elenin is a comet.
Similarity:
All 3 have been used in hoaxes to promote doomsday.
Planet X was a term originally used as a placeholder name for a hypothetical planet suspected to exist because of its gravitational influences on other bodies, but not confirmed. Uranus and Neptune, used to be "Planet X’s" before their discoveries.
The modern "cult" meaning of planet x, refers to a doomsday planet, an inmaginary object invented by Nancy Lieder (who claims it exists because she is communictaing with aliens telepathically, who told her about it) on a disasterous encounter with Earth in May of 2003… oh wait, that day came and went, and she changed the date to 2012… hmmmm.
Nibiru is equally fictional, invented by a man misreading ancient Sumerian Artifacts. The proposed orbit of this object is not only impossible, but numerous other characteristics of it violate all known laws of orbital mechanics.
Elenin is a small comet, recently discovered. It is a long period comet (meaning you won’t see it come back in your lifetime, unless you life tens of thousands of years or longer) of minimal interest. It is of no significant interest, and doesn’t even pass that close to Earth, although the "Chicken-Little" crowd out there is making absurd claims about this object.
Elenin is a real comet which poses no threat. It’s a bit on the small side, and will be visually unimpressive.
Planet X has only been used in astronomy to refer to a hypothetical planet thought to orbit beyond Neptune. Back at the dawn of the 20th Century, perceived irregularities in Neptune’s orbit led astronomers to think there was a ninth planet out there. This led to the discovery of Pluto, which wasn’t large enough to account for the perceived irregularity. Ultimately, these irregularities turned out to be an observational error. Voyager 2’s Neptune flyby allowed for better estimates of Neptune’s mass, which reconciled everything rather nicely.
Planet X was also used by Nancy Lieder in her 2003 doomsday hoax. She claimed grey aliens from Zeta Reticuli were communicating with her telepathically, telling her that this planet sweep by Earth from the outer system, destroying Earth. Her grasp of physics bordered upon that of a drunken manatee, so it was really transparent.
Nibiru is an ancient Sumerian/Babylonian term meaning ‘crossing point’. In their system of astronomy, it referred to the highest point of the ecliptic plane. The ecliptic is a line that the planets seem to follow across the night sky as they orbit. We call this point the Summer Solstice, as we mark the beginning of summer by the Sun reaching that point. To the ancient Sumerians and Babylonians, though, it was of religious significance when Marduk’s Star (Jupiter) would cross that point.
Zechariah Sitchin decided that he was the only person who could read ancient Sumerian cuneiform, and used his self-declared unique understanding to invent a whole new Sumerian mythology. His story of a planet with a 3000 year extremely oblique (physically impossible) orbit inhabited by aliens who tampered with Earth every time it swung by Earth has since been seized upon as the premise for a new doomsday hoax set to reach its conclusion in 2012. As with Planet X, its proponents likewise have a grasp of physics befitting a drunken manatee.
Planet X is an unknown, theoretical planet that would cause the wobbling in Uranus and Neptune’s orbits.
Nibiru does definitely not exist.
Elenin is a typical comet.

Different names.
All fake
Write a book or article saying they will destroy earth and make $$$$$$

Nothing. It’s all Bullshît..
All fiction and all of what nobody needs to worry about.

All are fictional.
Planet X and Niburu are myths.
Elenin is real, but will pass ove 20 Million miles away at closest approach.
Just because it hasn’t been found, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist out there…………………Somewhere.
FAKE ! FAKE ! FAKE !, they r just the names given by some jobless fellows to confuse people
Planet X is an unknown, theoretical planet that would cause the wobbling in Uranus and Neptune’s orbits.
Nibiru does definitely not exist.

It makes you think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqKsJwMhCt0
Well, the good thing is we won’t have to wait for long to see what happens.
