No. Our calendar is NOT the Mayan calendar, it is the Gregorian calendar. Assuming the world doesn’t end (the smart money is here) the years go on from 2012, 2013, 2014, etc. This year, 2010, is from our Calendar not from anyone else’s. You see, the way it works is that the Mayan calendar’s end has been figured out to correspond to 2012 on our calendar. I seriously doubt that the Mayans used the same number system we do. What all the concern is about is that some people like to think that means the end of the world or something like that. Our calendar has nothing to do the Mayan calendar. 2013 will follow 2012 unless WE change OUR calendar – and that would take a real reason. World War II wasn’t enough and 50 MILLION people died! That 2012 corresponds to some old calendar’s end isn’t anything like enough reason.

why do you even give any significance to thy mayan calender? i bet if it supposedly ended 100 years from now you wouldn’t care.
the only reason why you care is based of off other things you have heard from other people who have heard other things. people in todays society do not take ancient tribes seriously.
Assuming the world doesn’t end(which I highly doubt it will anyway), we’ll go to 2013. Unless the world ends, then any new life form would start at year 1.
actually i think the event of 2012 is possible with all the things that can catastrophically happen and all the catastrophic things that are going to happen around the same time. but sopposing nothing happens, it’s going to take alot of force to get people to stop calling it 2013 and instead calling it 1. life goes on so time continues to go on aswell
